The “window” is the no-longer-used glass entryway to an office that was there before the bookshop expanded. This area is somewhat visible from the outside as one walks into the store and is not visible from the inside (three bookcases stand in front of it). I knew those large, heavy bookcases meant I would be making something to install once and not update. And since this window art would be up year-round, I decided on a “four seasons” theme — an homage to Montana, where the seasons are so distinct. Enter the Chipotle forks... I wondered what all fifty-one of them would look like when laid in a circle? [pretty cool] If I painted them gold, could this be “the sun” in the summer section of my window art? [it sure could] Maybe this would be an abstract interpretation of the four seasons...? [great idea, since I don’t do much abstract work] And since these forks were being repurposed, could almost everything else in the display be made of repurposed/recycled materials + stuff I already had sitting around? [Yes!] I collected cardboard boxes from family and friends and rummaged through my collection of art supplies. I followed that with lots of cutting and experimenting and general “figuring out”...
